Rajabhat Mahasarakham University

The Special Education Center is part of Rajabhat University, Faculty of Education and the building includes classrooms for university students preparing to be teachers of children with special needs. The university provides us our building space, staff and utilities but no operating budget for food, petrol and supplies. We receive about 60,000 Baht per year from the Department of Education in Bangkok for our operation, our only other income is very small amounts paid by five of the families of our children for their transportation expenses to and from our center, and occasional contributions. There is no fee for the handicapped children to attend our center and they are mostly from poor families, already burdened with the cost of supporting a handicapped child, so our income is very small, barely sufficient for our modest needs.

The center is a wonderful place for our children, sometimes the only opportunity they have to learn and interact with other children. But, we dream of making it such a better place. We would like to provide nutritious lunches for our children, acquire a van to transport them safely, and buy books, toys, visual aids and other learning materials designed specifically to be used for teaching to deaf and learning disabled children.

We would love to have an opportunity to show you around our center and have you meet some of our children. We are here every day, 830 AM to 430 PM and will be happy to give you a tour and answer any questions you may have. If you call before you come (043-725436) we will give you directions and be prepared to receive you. If you would be interested in providing financial support for our efforts any contribution, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated and will help to improve the learning conditions and the quality of life of our disabled children.
